Day 2 – Georgia

Today we got to really focus on the Blue Mountains. It was interesting to discuss the issue of bushfire and so great to hear that hazard reduction & cultural burning was considered to be the right direction to head in. Hazard reduction has always been something that my family has advocated.

It was also really interesting to get an insight into the feral animals issue. There are really passionate pockets of the population that we will always need to manage. Education will be key to ensure that these groups understand the issues related to feral animals. It was also interesting to hear about the different community consultation methods.

The issue that I will be focusing on is visitor management. When it came to work in our groups it was hard to really get a good grasp on just what we were going to cover. I’m hoping that our trip to the mountains reveals to us just what the current situation is and hope to ask the presenters questions to help with the presentation and report.
